Gifted
and Talented Program at Clinton School
Mission
Statement
The Clinton School provides services to meet the needs of all
students to develop their potential.
Gifted students have special needs because of their wide range of
interests, advanced academic skills, rapid rate of learning, and a greater
capability for higher lever thinking.
These students require a differentiated curriculum which includes
provisions for meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs. Clinton School is committed to providing
these students with a learning environment flexible enough to allow a diversity
of options in order to maximize their potential.
Student
Identification
Students are identified using various criteria. Test scores on the MAP and CRT tests are
taken into account. General grades and
teacher recommendations are also considered.
Curriculum
Differentiation
Students will be involved in a pull out program to work on
projects designed to challenge and encourage them. Students identified and placed in the Gifted
Program may receive differentiated instruction in the classroom.

Support Services
Particular aspects of GT education will be presented to
teachers at meetings. Resource materials
from the GT library are available.
Criteria
for Evaluation
Students, parents, and staff are involvement in evaluating
progress made from year to year. Goals
are reviewed at the beginning of the year and evaluated at the end of the year.
Support
Services
When appropriate the school psychologist will administer additional
testing and/or the counselor/psychologist will lead discussion groups and/or
individual conferences regarding social/emotional needs of gifted students.
Parent
Involvement
Parents are contacted when a student has been accepted into
the Gifted Program. Parents are
encouraged to show interest in student’s projects and performance. Resource materials from the GT library are
available.
